Quick Thoughts:
Not a great read, but a decent in-between book. It didn’t wow me, sadly enough.

He comes for those on the naughty list. Drags them to his lair, and punishes them. But what if getting spanked and tied up was the best present this naughty girl could dream of?…

Sienna
I’ve been a bad, bad girl… playing with men, acting like every day is Xmas, and each one of my lovers is just another shiny new toy. And Alex was no different. Just another pretty face and ripped body dying to get all over my curves.
Or so I thought…

I don’t give three stars often, if I am being entirely honest. For me it means that a book didn’t wow me, but was a fun read either way. That definitely was the case with Krampusnacht. It was a quick read, only 37 pages long. And you definitely notice that it was so short.

I’ve lusted for the man for weeks, but this version of him, wild, dangerous, extraordinary… this is who I truly want to fuck and own me

I think it is not a secret how much I like a good monster romance. Sadly enough, this book didn’t quite sell that for me. There is this pet-peeve of mine, in which the Monster doesn’t stay monstrous after getting in a relationship. I really love the ‘only soft for them’ trope and was hoping this book would bring me that.

It did not.

The book was not dark enough for me, missing that harsh edge. The punishments felt light, not what I expected when reading the book’s blurb.

There was plenty of steam in this book. It was basically one big spicy scene, though the sliver of plot surprised me quite a bit. There was some story and some background, adding a scene before the spice began so that we had just a little bit more of a feeling for who the people were.

When the spicy scene started, it was pretty well described. It had enough details to paint a fun image in my head, and it was exactly long enough to keep my squirrel brain properly entertained. The steam had a nice balance, especially with the sliver of plot that I had not expected in a 37-page-long novella. Honestly, I had been expecting a single spice scene without much story surrounding it. So that was a pleasant surprise. We got some backstory and the main couple actually had a bit of personality.

Talking about the people, I just didn’t like them that much. It was a surprise they even had a bit of depth, but especially Sienna just rubbed me the wrong way. I think it’s probably a case of personal taste, but she was just not the type of character that I liked. While I do like my Female Main Characters feisty and firey, she just felt cruel. It was such a shame, because the base for her character could have been so much more.

Alex had much of the same problem for me, where his base was good, exciting even, but his personality just not doing it for me. After the initial punishment he grows soft, and that was not what I expected or even wanted from this book.

While this book definitely didn’t wow me, it was a fun read. I went through it in just under an hour, the writing style fast-paced and easy to read. There was an happily ever after with an epilogue. It just felt a little disjointed, not explained enough. I read a lot of novella’s, but this simply was too short and not enough information on why & how.

The premise was really interesting though! A family curse definitely is something I would love to read more about. This book sadly did not have enough pages to bring justice to this idea.

Good bits

Bad bits

  • A short read
  • Interesting premise
  • Not enough details
  • A little disjointed
  • I didn’t feel the characters

Would I recommend this book to anyone if they are asking for a Christmas read? No, I wouldn’t. There are plenty of Christmas reads out there which are better. I wouldn’t pick it up again either. It was a fun read, but if I could make the choice again, I would choose another book over this one.
