I enjoyed this third installment just as much as the other two! I just have a soft spot for this series.

This book was an ARC and given to me for free.
All reviews are entirely honest and my own opinion.

Treasa Murphy
It’s taken every ounce of trust I possess to let him dominate me like this. To let him train me for this mission.
I’m ready. He’s made sure of that.
I hope he’s ready for what comes after.
That is, if we get an after

Cupid Valentine
It all comes down to this. Everything we’ve worked for. Every whimper and cry I’ve pulled from her lips. Every battle I’ve fought with my own conscience.
We can’t blow our cover.
If we do, no one can save me.
If I lose her, I lose myself.

Can he get through this for them both, or will his actions be too Late?

That I love Rosie’s writing style is not a secret anymore at this point. I’ve read the two other books in the Valentine Series as well, and loved them to bits. They are not a literary masterpiece, but gods are they a incredibly fun read! And for me, that is the most important: How fun was reading this book?

Your pleasure is mine; give it to me.

Rosie’s books are short, that is a given. This is the third book of hers that I read, and they are always around or under a hundred pages. Luckily this doesn’t bother me as much. But I know that not everyone is a fan of shorter books, so this definitely is something to be considered before picking this specific series up.

That being said, even though the books are short, there are already three books in this series. Which would take the total up to 200-ish, maybe 250, pages. If you would put everything in one omnibus, you would have a decently lengthy book to keep you entertained for one or two evenings.

Late picks up where Vice left off, making a seamless transition from book 2 to book 3. This is something I really love about this series, it reads as one long book instead of several shorter ones.

This book was the conclusion to Treasa’s and Cupids story. We finally have a full image of their history together, something I really enjoyed reading about. It’s given to us in bits and pieces through out the series, and that has been my main catalyst on reading all three of these novella’s in a single day. I was just too curious to contain myself!

Much like the first two books, Late has the same handful of issues. Some scenes are a little disjointed, jumping from one spot to another. There could be a little more detail between scenes and locations.

Sloane’s writing style is fast paced and a very easy ready. Despite the slightly disjointed jumps between locations, there is a really nice flow in the story. It feels like it develops naturally, the passion jumping from the pages. I love how Valentine and Treasa grow as characters. I’ve followed this with a lot of joy, and the characters have gotten a special place in my heart.

Another thing to keep in mind before picking up this book are the trigger warnings. Please take these serious! The book delves into some dark topics that are not suitable for everyone. I personally absolutely delight in the fact that Rosie doesn’t stray away from the darker topics, but it could be potentionally triggering for some people.

Late is the last book in the Valentine Series, a worthy conclusion of the story that has been developed. It comes together in a surprising way, maybe a little out of the blue. But it sets up nicely for any spin-offs. Which I believe we are going to get somewhere soon, because the book ends in Bunny’s POV. To say I am excited is putting it mildly.

Good bits

Bad bits

  • Full history of the main couple
  • I just love Rosie’s writing style
  • Fast paced & easy to read
  • No shortage of spice
  • Continues to be a little disjointed

This book definitely sets up for future instalments, while also being a nice conclusion to Treasa’s and Valentine’s story. It was a short but very fun read, something I devoured in a single sitting. If you’re an mafia and BDSM enjoyer, I would definitely recommend trying out this series!
