Donovan
I pick someone off the streets every Christmas. Offer them a chance to build a new life, to prove that they want to be saved. So when I see Angel—too beautiful, too defiant to be there—I know he’s my project this year. The streets have made him tough, but I see what’s hidden beneath that sass and attitude. My plan was protect him, teach him, help him become something more.
But the more time we spend together, the more I crave him. The more he drives me mad with his smart mouth and the way he looks at me like I’m the enemy. He can resist all he wants, but I don’t lose, and I sure as hell don’t walk away. Not from him.
And when I’m through, Angel won’t just be rescued. He’ll be mine.
Angel
It was supposed to be a quick job. Just another night, another deal to survive. But then Donovan shows up, talking about “saving” me like I’m some kind of lost cause. The last thing I need is his charity—or his protection. He thinks he can control me with his wealth and promises, but I have my own plans, my own secrets to protect. Secrets that could destroy everything.
If Donovan ever found out, I’d be at his mercy.
He’s dangerous, possessive, and every time he gets close, my defenses weaken. I’m not sure how much longer I can fight him—or how much I even want to.
When this book passed my instagram feed, I was lured in by the promise of the main characters. One character a billionaire and the other a prostitute. I love it when books don’t shy away from such occupations, so I very quickly signed up for an ARC copy!
Don’t fucking leave me now.
In short: I am absolutely in love with this book and am looking forward to reading more of Medusa Stone’s work! The way that they write, the pacing of the book, this particular pairing, it just hit all of the right notes with me and I just couldn’t stop reading.
If I am being completely honest, then this book was even a little too short for my liking. Of course, it’s a novella, it’s a short story, I knew that going in. But I had not expected to fell in love wit Angel and Donovan the way that I did. I am silently hoping for a full-length book of this, but that’s a regular occurrence for me whenever I fall in love with a pairing.
To say that this novella was a pleasant surprise would be a big understatement. One could call it the understatement of the century even. I am not entirely sure what I was expecting, but it definitely was not this emotional whirlwind of a story! Be still, my rapidly beating heart!
The scenes flowed really well together, fast paced and incredibly easy to read. It made sense when they moved from one scene to the other, there being plenty of details to make it a smooth transition. It made for a very comfortable read, and a very easy one as well. And that is how I like my books! I want to be swept away, completely engulfed in the story. And Rescued by the Billionaire by Medusa Stone definitely delivered on this.
When I say swept away, I really mean swept away! There were so many details, so many emotions, it was somewhat of a rollercoaster. The character development of both characters is not something I expected in this novella.
And that well-developed plot! Oh my! Yes, I loved this book to bit and would recommend it to everyone who is a fan of MxM mafia Romance. It has a bit of an edge, the trigger warnings definitely should be taken seriously. But I fell in love with that edge and am craving for more.
Dear Medusa, if you are reading this… I would love a full-length story about Angel and Donovan! I would be absolutely delighted to read about the development between them and everything around. Maybe even a spin-off about Angel’s two friends. Oh, the options!
All in due time, Donovan. We are here to reform him, not to fuck him.
To put it simply, I absolutely loved this book. But I got to be critical as well. Would I have loved this book just as much if it was a full-length book? I would probably have had higher expectations, and this would have influenced how I experienced the book. But I am still relatively positive I would have loved it all the same!
Good bits
Bad bits
- One of the characters is a prostitute
- Well-developed plot
- Plenty of Spice scenes, which are well written
- Had an edge to it I adored
- Surprisingly quite a bit of character development
- I just want a full-length book
If you are like me, a fan of dark romance, mafia and MxM stories then I definitely recommend checking out this novella by Medusa Stone.
