Gorgeous, cocky, and fast on his way to becoming a hotshot doctor, Josh Chen has never met a woman he couldn’t charm—except for Jules f**king Ambrose.

The beautiful redhead has been a thorn in his side since they met, but she also consumes his thoughts in a way no woman ever has.

When their animosity explodes into one unforgettable night, he proposes a solution that’ll get her out of his system once and for all: an enemies with benefits arrangement with simple rules.

No jealousy.
No strings attached.

And absolutely no falling in love.

Outgoing and ambitious, Jules Ambrose is a former party girl who’s focused on one thing: passing the attorney’s bar exam.

The last thing she needs is to get involved with a doctor who puts the SUFFER in insufferable…no matter how good-looking he is.

But the more she gets to know him, the more she realizes there’s more than meets the eye to the man she’s hated for so long.

Her best friend’s brother.
Her nemesis.
And her only salvation.

Theirs is a match made in hell, and when the demons from their past catch up with them, they’re faced with truths that could either save them …or destroy everything they’ve worked for.

Did I like this book? Yes. Did I think it was the best of the series? No. And this might be an unpopular opinion, because Goodreads is full with enthusiastic reviews, saying that this is the best of the series. But I still enjoyed it!

You need someone to bend you over and fuck that attitude right out of you.

This book put me in a reading slump, let’s get that out of the way first. But that wasn’t entirely the book’s fault. It was a mix of different situations; stress in real life and not entirely vibing with the two main character’s dynamic. It was very specifically their dynamic. I was just not feeling it.

I don’t know… It just felt a little awkward at times. And that while this book is filled with tropes and scenes that I am normally very enthusiastic about; Enemies to lovers, workplace romances, enemies with benefits, witty banter and lots of spicy scenes. Yet, I was simply not entirely feeling this couple.

In the end I was very happy that I pushed my way through the book. When stuff started happening with Jules, I was finally invested. This was in the second half of the book and had nothing to do with the couple at all. Sadly, the last like 25% of the book once again was a bit of a let down for me. The solution to the situation was just not something I vibed with.

Was this a bad book? Absolutely not. Ana Huang is a good writer who knows how to put down a spicy romantic story. Through out the books you notice that she improves more and more in her writing style. At some points it was just a little slow, but the scenes that were supposed to make an impact went hard. Something about the pace of the book just felt off for me. And that while I rushed through the first two books of this series. The book felt as if it could have been a few chapters shorter. It just felt a little dragged out, especially the first act.

There were a few very cute scenes, especially when the relationship actually was going places. This gave a pretty nice glimps of the main character’s personalities. It gave them a little more depth, which I felt was needed to make thje book vibe a little more.

That being said, I wouldn’t re-read this book. It took me almost three months to finally finish it. I was stuck on the 34% for the longest of times and had to pick up other books to get out of my reading slump.

I would take a thousand fights with Jules over a thousand easy days with anyone else.
Because I didn't want easy. I wanted her.

While Twisted Hate didn’t meet my expectations, I am also very aware that I might was expecting too much of this installment. After Twisted Games (which is my favourite of the first three), this one just lacked something for me. I can’t really put my finger on it.

Good bits

Bad bits

  • Enemies to lovers
  • When things get going, they get going
  • A few very cute scenes
  • Very slow at certain points
  • I simply was not vibing with it

It seems like Twisted Hate is one of those books you either hate or love. Next to the very enthusiastic Goodreads reviews, I also am seeing quite some mixed ones. It wasn’t a bad book, not at all, but it wasn’t one I enjoyed either. Maybe you will enjoy it a little better, can’t hurt to give it a try!
